ABSTRACT MOVEMENT
Abstract Movement is a Jersey City Art Imprint that focuses on sharing the value of the arts through programming, education and different mediums of art.
MISSION
To translate the intrinsic value of expressive creativity into sustainable methods of personal & societal growth.
VISION
Dance, language, music and other expressive creative processes can become conduits to understanding complex internal and social issues such as dealing with our mental & physical health, family communication and conflict resolution. They can present platforms for personal growth, as well as the opportunities to understand how our personal growth affects our overall community & family, and possibly the world.
These ideals can transcend culture, class, race and gender lines creating an inclusive opportunity for anyone to benefit from the value of creative expression by creating a value that is deeper than the ego. The vision is that this intuitive concept will be embraced by people of all classes, all over the world and become a known platform to heal mental and physical health issues.
APPROACH
The Abstract Movement Process is an ideological system that can help you gain a new perspective on your mind, body and spirit connection and use this perspective to create a better balance of mental, physical and spiritual health.
The process focuses on the idea that expressive creativity can be an outlet for stagnant energy and thoughts.
When we are in a state of pure creation, we can release anxiety and depression and return to the here and now.
Over the past 10 years of experimenting with how to communicate these ideals and the value of creative expression, I have have concluded that the most powerful way to make someone receptive to such abstract ideas is for them to witness the process in action in our own lives. We share our authenticity through platforms like this website, our events, our art and our program input as our main method to try to change the world. The pseudoscientific approach in the way of our "process" is just meant to be used as an added tool to gain understanding of the value, but to really embrace it you just have to
let go and create.
